"Common Vision, Different Paths" - PDF

This joint report from Pre-K Now and ZERO TO THREE articulates a common vision for early childhood systems in which programs work effectively with each other to provide high-quality early learning and comprehensive services. "Common Vision, Different Paths" reveals lessons learned from five states' unique journeys toward such prenatal-to-five systems and identifies four cornerstones that have helped states succeed in this work.

Advocates and policymakers will also find guidance on harnessing the momentum around individual programs, like pre-k, for the larger push toward a system that works for all young children and families.

All Together Now: State Experiences in Using
Community-Based Child Care to Provide Pre-Kindergarten -
PDF

This brief is based on the 61-page report of the same name, which was commissioned by the Brookings Institution. It studies the emergence of the mixed delivery model, in which pre-kindergarten is delivered in community-based settings and schools.

This policy brief, the fifth in the Child Care and Early Education Series, describes principal approaches to state implementation of the mixed delivery model but does not provide examples of state policies. See the full report for details about state policy choices.
